Catalyst emulator SK-02 a (oxygen sensor emulator)
Catalyst emulator SK-02 a (oxygen sensor emulator)
The emulator is designed to simulate the operation of the oxygen sensor behind catalyst mainly for cars of up to 2005 model year. It is installed after removal of the catalyst or in case of a malfunction of the oxygen sensor.

The emulator is designed to work with the rear oxygen sensor B1S2 in case of a malfunction of the oxygen sensor or problems with the catalyst. It is compatible with all cars (except American brands) of up to the 2005 model year. It can work properly on many cars of up to current model year. You can select emulator, which will be compatible with your car, through filling of a special form or by contacting us. Emulator SK-02 supports fuel trim according to the second oxygen sensor and it runs fine in the feedback loop. The emulator is completely sealed and can be installed in any convenient location.
Technical description of the catalyst emulator, operation with the ECU
The emulator receives signals in the range of 0 ... 1 volt from the rear or front oxygen sensor through the blue wire. The output signal for the ECU is formed on the yellow wire. The black wire of the emulator is connected to ground this is normally done through a gray wire of oxygen sensor (white wire for Japanese cars). The input signal is processed by a special algorithm and we get the voltage values, which are typical for a new catalyst. In case of working catalyst, the voltage is usually in the range of 0.6... 0.8 volts. In cars with fuel trim by back oxygen sensor, the voltage is determined by the control unit that tries to keep it within the set range by adjusting the fuel supply. Using the regulators on the emulator it is possible to shift the conversion response and thus trying to change the emulator voltage output to cause the control unit to change the fuel adjustments. In some cars (for example Subaru, Honda, Akura) these adjustments have serious impact on the total fuel consumption. For example, there are known cases of fuel consumption decrease from 17 to 10 l/100 km only after installation of the emulator. Such significant result won't be observed in all cars, however, it is always present, if fuel trim by back oxygen sensor (lambda) is provided. Such trim is already available in all cars manufactured at the moment. Some characteristics of the emulator of SK-02 catalyst Voltage output - 0... 0.9 B Input voltage - 0... 0.9 B Power supply voltage - 11... 15 V Consumption current - 5 mA Output impedance - 50 Ohms

The emulator can be set only if it’s necessary. Blue - adjusts the reaction time and inertia to change of the incoming signal. The time increases at clockwise turning. The default values correspond to the average position of the regulators. Blue with black mark - the catalyst efficiency is regulated (the time balance between the transition of the output signal from low to high and vice versa). The standard setting is at mark or in the center position.
Setting for car with a 1st mix sensor (LAF) or a wideband oxygen sensor. On cars with a broadband first Oxygen sensor, voltage falls from the emulator to 0 volts are allowed at idle run with a period of 1 and more seconds. During setting, attention should be paid to the correction of the fuel mix on the 2-nd Oxygen sensor, it should be about 0%. Since the control unit has the ability to adapt, make sure to make a test drive after the setup and check the parameters. For cars with regular Oxygen sensor.
It is necessary to adjust the voltage at output to at least 0.6 volts at idle run. The regulator with the band must be adjusted so that, at the slightest turn against the clock, the output voltage starts to fall (it should be set to the fall point). Single falls with a period of several seconds are allowed. On the yellow wire, the signal should not be less than 0.6 volts at 2000 ... 3000 rpm. When you press the gas and increase the speed to 5000 and suddenly release the gas pedal, the voltage at the output of the emulator should fall in 1 ... 2 seconds after the pedal is released.
