A simple and efficient way to save gas was discovered, tested and patented in Russia. The vortex method of forming gas mixture was designed to allow saving up to 20% of fuel and reduce emission gases pollution drastically.

It is well known that cars and buses are very much demanded transportation vehicles in modern cities causing disaster pollution. The larger the city is the greater pollution it creates. Despite of the perfect appearance of modern gas engines, they still remain very inefficient from the environmental point of view and quite primitive in terms of energy efficiency. For example, the level of efficiency of an average internal combustion engine is approximately 20%.

Despite of number of discoveries, patents and developments available today in fields of energy saving and environmental pollution reduction, a modern vehicle still is far from its perfection and ecological problems reach critical values.

For some reasons engines manufacturers don’t speed up the process of making their product more efficient and because of that our car transport still remains imperfect. Our cars still consume a lot of fuel and cause a lot of harm to the nature and humans.

“EcoTop” is our simple solution to the problem

As now days the world is facing a problem that the aggregate supply of oil is diminishing it is likely that in the near future the question of finding ways to save fuel will be critically important because our everyday gas expenses may rise drastically.

1. WHAT ARE THE WAYS TO IMPROVE MOTOR EFFICIENCY?

There are known various ways to save fuel in gas engines. Among them are methods of electro-magnetic fuel activation, oxidization, turbo inlet, electronic direct fuel dosation and injection, powerful electric ignition systems, various homogenizers improving quality of gas mixture and others devices. However, most these innovations do not allow lowing fuel consumption significantly. In addition due to their complexity their cost is high. We have found a genially simple solution!

2. BASIC STAGES OF DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ECOTOP

After these remarkable achievements were done, we’ve made series of certification tests of such devices by (NAMI – Moscow National CarMechanical Research Institute). They have also proved the efficience of the device on every operating mode of the vehicle engine. A proper certificate was received №РОСС RU.МТ14.В09304, ТУ 4591-001-56647860-2002Vortex forming device of fuel economy (EcoTop) the first time was introduced and patented in 1998. It consists of vortex forming chambers, inserted into the body-plate, air filter and an air supply adjuster. Later in 1999 in Samara city I together with my colleges developed a series of proto samples of such device. At that time we made tests on VAZ 2106 vehicle. Our first samples installed on the actual vehicle have shown significant reduction of fuel consumption. In some cases we achieved 40-50% of improvement. Tests have shown also that along with the fuel consumption reduction we could improve pollution ratios as well. Surprisingly the improvements were reached on every mode of the ride. Especially wonderful results were reached with the level of emission lowering it from five to more than ten times depending on a mode of movement.

3. WHAT IS THE PHYSICAL ESSENCE OF ECOTOP OPERATION?

Creation of the vortex inside of the inlet of an internal combustion engine is the basic physical essence of the EcoTop operation. The effect of high level homogenization is reached under certain parameters of inflowing air and particular angles of flow.

4. THE DESIGN OF THE SIMPLEST ECOTOP DEVICE

The design of the “EcoTop” is quite simple. It is made of a specially developed plate which is installed on top of the inlet. This plate has a feedback connection with atmosphere and consists of several core elements such as metal rings with original aerodynamic shape having particularly shaped internal channels and a filter. These rings form a vortex air flow which homogenizes an air-gas mixture to a much higher degree.

Installation of the EcoTop on an engine makes a fuel mixture different. It splits up gas on particles and it lets an incoming air flow to completely tear up a fuel film from an internal side of the inlet. This is especially useful on its idle mode of operation. Working idle, engine thus has its lowest level in its pollution emission. Experiments have shown a much deeper burn out of fuel and increase in rpm. In particularly when normally operated engine has 900 rpm on idle, after EcoTop is installed, the value of rpm goes up to 1400 to 1600. 6. ECOTOP – RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

In the process of EcoTop development a great amount of research and experimental work was performed and many changes have been made to achieve a final result. In particular the initial design of the vortex forming chamber was simplified significantly. Optimal diameters of the vortex forming channels were chosen, appropriate angles of their location were selected, the best construction materials, with their thermo and mechanical characteristics were found. Experiments and calculations have shown a dependency of the stability of engine operation on how intensive the vortex is and on the vortex angle to the normal of the inlet chamber. The vortex forming elements were optimized in such way to provide the best speed of the vortex, the needed degree of the flow angle, and the optimal content of gas-fuel mixture.

7. THE EXAMPLE OF PRACTICAL IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INVENTION

Besides that this vortex tears up the fuel film from the internal side of the inlet creating an additional effect of improving the mixture’s quality. Experiments have shown that created vortex goes deep down into the combustion chamber improving the process of burning and cleaning emissions respectively. Of course, the best economy effect mainly happens on idle and acceleration modes, when chambers are to get open or closed.

However, considering the amount of time (up to 40 % of total driving time) spent by a driver waiting on the lights, driving with low speed across traffic jams, the summary effect from using EcoTop can be high enough reaching 15-20%. The device practically doesn’t need service and maintenance and is reliable. Let’s mention that installation of EcoTop on a carburetor engine requires preliminary adjustment due to increase of idle rpm range.Let’s review how the device of vortex forming mixture “EcoTop” works based on the gas carburetor engine operation. When the engine is on, the pressure is lowered in the inlet. Forced by this pressure difference fuel begins to leak from the fuel injector and is split up on many particles in the main air flow. However, due to the position of the carburetor damper which is practically closed at that moment, the mixture is usually too rich with fuel and is badly mixed up with the air. So, the bad quality of mixture on this mode of operation is the main reason for over consumption of fuel and is the cause of bad emission. When EcoTop is installed on the engine under the carburetor, the mixture forming method is being changed. In particularly, on its idle mode of operation, the engine inlet is feed with the additional dosed amount of air which flows from outside across tangential channels of the EcoTop chambers forming an air vortex with specific aerodynamic parameters. As a result this vortex is crushing the fuel into the particles

8. ELECTRIFICATION OF AN AIR-GAZ MIXUTE AND ADDITION OF WATER INTO THE INLET.

Earlier mentioned method of forming fuel mixture is being received a further technical modernization and different devices of fuel economy are being developed. In particularly we propose balancing a fuel mixture with the water vapor

a) Electrification of the mixture

This method becomes possible if the vortex mixture former is made of thermo resistant materials, such as ebonite. The essence is to use Coulombs electrostatic forces to charge fuel drops with equal charges and then to split them up inside of the motor inlet using vortex. Experiments have shown even greater results of homogenization in case of electric forces usage. This application gives additional 10% of fuel economy and reduction in pollution emissions.

b) Receiving water vapor and its supply into the combustion chambers of the engine.

It is true to say that the modern internal combustion engine has very low efficiency ratio having great loss in heat (up to 30 kwatts). So why don’t we use it to produce vapor and to supply it into the inlet of the engine? And we did it!!! The effect of such vapor-fuel engine is quite visually identifiable. We have received a motor with a simple turbo vapor supply allowing us to save up to unbelievable 30-40% of fuel under the same engine power!!!

9. THE PHYSICAL ESSENCE OF THE INNOVATIONS

Additional effect of fuel economy can be achieved if along with the vortex mixture former installed on vehicle, a dosed amount of distilled water or vapor is added into the inlet. The idea of balancing water with the gas isn’t new. However our approach of combination of various methods of preparing the mixture is quite unique. Such combination of fuel-water mixture along with its preparation using vortex former decreases the temperature of burning to the optimal value of 1000C degree. Water can be taken from additionally installed water tank. Experiments have shown that the amount of water consumption is 1-2% of gas consumption. Special chemicals (in milligrams) is added in the water to prevent corrosion inside of the combustion chamber.

2. The device when installed on a vehicle guarantees economies of fuel up to 15-20% depending on the engines wear level and driving conditions (depending on how big the city I, how often the traffic jam happens etc.)
